However, be careful not to put on your birth list things that you will need on D-day because most gifts will be given after baby's arrival (see next chapter).

2/ See "big": a tip if you lack ideas for your birth list, especially for a 2nd or 3rd child, think about what you need for the big one(s) too. You will now use the car seat and baby high chair 2, put on your list car booster seats and tall chairs (this will be useful for both of your children).

3/ Think about putting gifts that make sense: your entourage will be sensitive to the fact that you are buying an original gift, that will last over time or that can be personalised with baby's first name! For example, the bébéothèque and its accessories will keep all the childhood memories and your child will be able to rediscover them once he is older.

4/ Make sure you have gifts for all budgets: the most expensive gifts are often offered by relatives but can also meet the budget for group gifts from friends or colleagues.

5/ Make a multi-shop birth list. If you want to choose the stroller in that big childcare store, the decoration of her room in your favourite new boutique, the pretty souvenir trunk sold on the internet and the cuddly toy handmade by the designer you love, the only way is to create your wish list on a multi-boutique website( like wishlist )

6/ Establish an order of preference. Make a first list with what you really want, then add items as gifts are offered to you.

7/ Publish your birth list as soon as you're ready (unless you're superstitious), some relatives will want to give you a gift even before baby arrives.

8/ Don't send an email to all your contacts and don't publish it on social networks: communicate the birth list to people who ask you for it and pass it on through your loved ones so that they can subtly relay the information to others.

9/ Close the list long after the birth: it's not uncommon for people to give their gift much later, for example your colleagues when you return to work (usually 10 weeks after the birth) or when your relatives visit you when they don't live in your area. These people often ask for gift ideas, so your list will be just as useful at that time!

10/ Thanks to the site that manages the list, you will be informed of everyone's gifts, which is very useful to write your thanks and avoid odd ones. Don't forget to keep a copy of your list, it's a nice souvenir to keep and will allow you to rediscover in a few years time who had spoiled your child with which gift and to reread each nice message left to baby.

3/ What to put on her birth list?

Each site will give you lots of good advice and ideas for your birth list, but as long as you are with us we will give you ours (with our experience as Moms of 5 children between us!).

First of all, here's what not to put on your list :

Don't put what you need before baby arrives or as soon as he arrives: it's up to you or your very close relatives to take care of him. Il vous suffit d’acheter le complément et uniquement ce qui vous fait vraiment plaisir !

Avoid writing on your birth list what you can get from your loved ones: especially clothes, some will give you full bags. You just have to buy the supplement and only what you really like!

Also do not put on your list what you can easily buy second-hand in good condition, as it is often used for very little time and does not present any hygiene problems: sterilisers, bottle warmers, bathtubs etc. You might as well make sure that the contributions of your family and friends are put to good use!

<img decoding="async" src="https://lepetitpousse.fr/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/IMG-0240.jpg" alt="ideas for birth list" / >

<img decoding="async" src="https://lepetitpousse.fr/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Malle-a-souvenirs-Bébéothèque-Cube-Antoine-Le-Petit-Pousse.jpg" alt="gift ideas for birth list" / >

<img decoding="async" src="https://lepetitpousse.fr/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/IMG-0245.jpg" alt="best gift idea for bith list" / >

On your birth list, focus on things that are useful and that will last over time.
